Allianz Partners has agreed to partner with the Marriott hotel chain to offer travel insurance products to US customers who book hotel rooms.
The optional insurance will be integrated into the reservations of both the Marriott website and the Marriott Bonvoy iOS app and will be available to all US citizens and residents for domestic and international reservations. The app is expected to be available on Android versions of the app from next year.
This arrangement is intended to provide hotel guests with a simplified process for purchasing insurance and will offer a range of Allianz Global Assistance policies with different rates, coverage and benefits.
When a policy is selected during the booking process, the cost will be added to the total cost of the stay and charged as a single purchase.

As part of the partnership, Allianz Global Assistance has developed plans along with Marriott that provide coverage for all room occupants, including friends or family.
Allianz also says that insurance plans may include reimbursement for non-refundable expenses incurred due to delays or emergencies, including costs of canceling travel due to illness or injury; Covering the cost of rebooked flights, airport hotel rooms and taxi fares; and cover the cost of prepaid and non-refundable trip expenses such as tours, activities and entertainment.
Depending on the plan purchased, costs for emergency medical care during the flight, delayed or lost baggage, and personal belongings may also be covered.
Other plan benefits will include 24/7 access to a team of multilingual experts who can assist guests with medical and travel emergencies, including making transportation arrangements, arranging roadside assistance or providing destination information.
All insurance plans will be revocable within at least 15 days of purchase, or more depending on the US state and plan purchased, provided the guest has not started travelling.

Allianz announced a similar partnership with Canada’s Porter Airlines in December 2021, offering insurance policies during the ticketing process.
