Skiers are racing down the slopes in droves as France has confirmed it will welcome back British tourists.
In the hours after the Paris government’s announcement, low-cost airline EasyJet reported a 600 per cent rise in UK bookings to popular French ski destinations for the remainder of winter.
Switzerland’s last-minute bookings peaked immediately after the news broke, with a 386 percent rise in flight bookings.
With peaks still covered in snow across Europe, winter sports enthusiasts now have more opportunity to hit the slopes. It’s no surprise that more and more winter sports enthusiasts are making the most of the conditions – until the end of the season in March 2022 – and booking a ski haven.
Thousands of easyJet seats to France and Switzerland as well as other destinations offering Europe’s best ski resorts are still available to book for this winter, including half term in February.
The airline has also extended Big Orange discounts, with up to 25 per cent off select seats and low fares still available to book until January 18, from just £14.99. It operates 37 routes this winter from the UK to 10 destinations across Europe serving the continent’s major ski resorts.
Ali Gayward, easyJet UK regional director, said: “With France welcoming British tourists once again, well and truly snowboarding is back. This is welcome news for UK consumers, particularly for those looking to book a last-minute family holiday. Or they plan to head to the slopes, with low fares still available across thousands of trips to France this winter, including more than half term.
“We know there is pent-up demand with many desperate to get away this year, which we continue to see every time restrictions are removed. With more flights scheduled in the coming weeks, we will continue to review our schedule to meet demand and look forward to moving our customers away on vacation. Long overdue this winter.”
